How to Use a PS5 Controller with Cronus Zen on a PS5 Console (Step-by-Step)

The PS5 controller is not officially supported by Cronus Zen when used directly on a PS5 console — but thanks to Zen Link, there’s now a reliable and fully supported solution or you can follow the steps below to perform the bypass!

One-Time Setup (Only Do This Once)

  1. Connect the PROG port (right-side USB) of your Cronus Zen to your PC.
  2. Open Zen Studio.
  3. Go to the Device tab.
  4. Set Output ProtocolPlayStation 5.
  5. Close Zen Studio.
  6. Disconnect the PROG (right-side) USB cable.
  7. Connect the CONSOLE/PC port (rear USB) to your PS5 console.
  8. Plug your PS5 controller into the A1 port (left-side USB) on the Zen.
  9. Ensure no script is running (press the top-right blue button until the OLED shows “Zen” 👽).
  10. On your PS5, navigate to Settings > System > Power Saving:
    • Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode → During Media Playback → Don’t Put in Rest Mode
    • Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode → While Playing Games → Don’t Put in Rest Mode
    • Set Time Until Controllers Turn Off → Don’t Turn Off
  11. Go to Settings > Accessories > General and ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
  12. Then open Settings > System > Accessories > Controllers (General)Communication MethodUse USB Cable.

Bypass Steps (For Legacy Use Only)

If you’re not using Zen Link, follow these steps each time you power on your PS5 or Cronus Zen.


DualSense Controller

  1. Plug your PS5 controller into the A1 port (left-side USB).
  2. Make sure no script is running (press top-right blue button on your Cronus Zen until display shows “Zen” 👽).
  3. On your PS5, go to Settings > Accessories > General and highlight (don’t select) Turn Off Accessories.
  4. While holding Right D-Pad, press the small blue reset button on the bottom of your Cronus Zen and wait a few seconds.

DualSense Edge Controller

  1. Plug your DualSense Edge into the A1 port (left-side USB).
  2. Make sure no script is running (press top-right blue button on your Cronus Zen until display shows “Zen” 👽).
  3. On your PS5, go to Settings > Accessories > General and highlight (don’t select) Turn Off Accessories.
  4. Disconnect the CONSOLE/PC port (rear USB) from the PS5 and ensure the PROG port is not connected to your PC.
  5. Press the PS button on your DualSense Edge to power it on.
  6. While holding Right D-Pad, reconnect the CONSOLE/PC port (rear USB) to the PS5 and wait a few seconds.
