How to Use a PS5 Controller with Cronus Zen on a PS5 Console (Step-by-Step)

PS5 Console User Notice

The PS5 controller isn’t officially supported by Cronus Zen for use on a PS5 console — but there’s a reliable workaround!

One-Time Setup (Only Do This Once)

  1. Connect Cronus Zen’s PROG port (right-side USB) to your PC.
  2. Open Zen Studio.
  3. Go to the Device tab.
  4. Set Output Protocol to PlayStation 5.
  5. Close Zen Studio.
  6. Disconnect the Cronus Zen’s PROG (right-side USB) USB wire.
  7. Connect the CONSOLE/PC port (rear USB) of your Cronus Zen to your PS5 console.
  8. Plug your PS5 controller into the A1 port (left-side USB) on the Zen.
  9. Make sure no script is running (press the top-right blue button on your Cronus Zen until the screen shows “Zen” with the alien face 👽).
  10. On your PS5, go to Settings > System > Power Saving:
    • Click Set Time Until PS5 Enters Rest Mode
    • Set both options to Don’t Put in Rest Mode.
    • Press Circle to go back to the Power Saving menu.
    • Click Set Time Until Controllers Turn Off.
    • Set this option to Don’t Turn Off.
  11. Then go to Settings > Accessories > General:
    • Click Bluetooth Accessories and turn on Bluetooth.
  12. Then go to Settings > System > Accessories > Controllers (General):
    • Set Communication Method to Use USB Cable.

  3. Go to Settings > Accessories > General and highlight (don’t select) Turn Off Accessories.
  4. While holding Right D-pad, press the small blue reset button on the bottom of your Cronus Zen and wait several seconds.

  2. Make sure no script is running (press the top-right blue button on your Cronus Zen until the screen shows “Zen” with the alien face 👽).
  3. Go to Settings > Accessories > General and highlight (don’t select) Turn Off Accessories.
  4. Disconnect the CONSOLE/PC port (rear USB) of your Cronus Zen to your PS5 console and make sure the PROG port (right-side USB) is not connected to your PC.
